Sinhala & Tamil New Year 2028

Aluth Avurudda (Sinhala) / Puththandu (Tamil) — the Sun’s ingress into Mesha (Aries), Sri Lanka Standard Time.

The precise nonagathe (inauspicious transition period) and nekath (auspicious times for specific rituals — oil-anointing, first meal, starting work) are published separately each year in the Nekath Seettuwa, with no fixed release date (the 2026 schedule came about a month before its holiday; the 2027 one came eight months before). No verified schedule is available for 2028 yet.
